This industrial estate is largely on the site of former clay extraction workings. Controlled filling was carried out during the 1970's and 1980's and the buildings are constructed on ground improved by vibro-compaction.

Moulding Facility

Location: Poole, Dorset
Client: Sunseeker International

Luxury boat manufacturer Sunseeker needed a building to house a computer operated moulding machine.

Although the plan dimensions are a modest 32 metres x 20 metres, the overall height needed to be 14 metres, or the equivalent of a five storey block of flats! To resist the wind loads, the GAP design allows for fixity at the bases of the portal frames, with the ground beams resisting the applied forces.
